REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT
24 FEBRUARY 2006

· No more tuition remission from the Grad School to help in the transition to the continuous registration system

· Grad student drop/add period is now officially 10 days

· University has requested a 4% increase in GA stipends for next year

· All Ph.D. students who have advanced to candidacy, i.e., those paying the continuous registration tuition, will be considered part-time for the purposes of paying fees – regardless of how many credits your are taking.

· Master of Philosophy passed the Graduate Council. Proposal for departments to offer the degree will now be solicited and then later presented to the BOR. Documentation available on the GSG Forums.

· The proposal to allow graduate students to take some classes for satisfactory/unsatisfactory rating rather than a letter grade passed the Graduate Council and has been sent to the Registrar for study and possible implementation. Documentation available on the GSG Forums.

· Vacation policy for 12-month GAs passed in the Graduate Council and has been forwarded to Legal Council for evaluation prior to possible implementation. Documentation available on the GSG Forums.

· Grad School’s Annual Report released

· Grad Council amendment: Faculty Affairs Committee
