Policy on Leave Time for Graduate Assistants

All University of Maryland graduate assistants with twelve-month appointments shall have time away from their duties during the course of the appointment. A twenty-hour assistantship over a twelve-month period carries with it the expectation of five days of leave. Leave must be taken during the current appointment and may not be accumulated or transferred. Leave does not include the time when the University is closed and is to be taken with the advance notice and agreement of the graduate assistant’s supervisor and at a mutually agreed upon time.
