The Graduate Student Government GRID Planning Committee (GPC) is seeking a graduate student to serve as GRID Coordinator for the planning and production of GRID 2012 to be held on April 11, 2012. The position appointment period is from January 24, 2012 April 13, 2011 with approximately 5 hours per week at $16/hour with potentially increased hours approaching the day of the event. Graduate Research Interaction Day 2012 will take place all day on April 11th 2012. This year session will include exciting presentations and posters from University of Maryland graduate students of diverse disciplines and backgrounds. Students will share their research, obtain valuable faculty and peer feedback, and hone their conference presentation skills within the comfort of their own campus environment. The Graduate Student Government is looking for both undergraduate and graduate students who would be willing to help out with Graduate Research Interaction Day (GRID) on Wednesday, April 6th in the Stamp Student Union. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to help for either a few hours or the whole day. We need many volunteers to help make GRID a success! Volunteers will receive a free GSG t-shirt! The Graduate Student Government will host a GRID Social on Wednesday, April 6th from 4-6pm in the Colony Ballroom of the Stamp Student Union. The GRID Social provides an opportunity for GRID participants and the graduate student community to come together to interact with one another, share ideas and celebrate the accomplishments of University graduate students. This year's GRID on Wednesday, April 6th will feature interactive panels which are designed to provide a forum for discussions of topics important to the promotion and advancement of graduate research. Attendees can ask the panelists questions and open discussion on issues relevant to the panel theme. More about: GRID Interactive Panels
The GSG has negotiated for discounted poster printing through the Design and Copy Service shop at the Stamp Student Union. They will offer GRID presenters 20% off the cost of printing your poster! The Graduate Student Government (GSG) is currently in need of faculty from all academic disciplines to serve as judges for GRID on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Judges play an integral role in the success of GRID in that they provide student presenters with valuable feedback and ultimately help select the presenters who are awarded travel grants. GRID fosters healthy competition among students by recognizing and awarding the best presentations from subject-themed oral and poster presentation sessions.
